Professor Jerry John Kponyo, Director of the Office of Grants and Research and Scientific Director of the Responsible AI Lab (RAIL) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has been appointed to the External Advisory Board of the Cureus Journal of AI Research, a publication of the Springer Nature Group, that brings together leading global voices shaping the future of AI-driven scholarly communication.
The Advisory Board comprises renowned experts from academia, industry, and policy who guide the journal’s strategic direction, ensuring it sets new benchmarks for excellence, transparency, and innovation in artificial intelligence research and publishing.
Members include senior scholars and innovation leaders from top institutions such as EPFL, the University of Chicago, the University of Queensland, and the University of Michigan.
Prof. Kponyo joins this distinguished group for his pioneering work in responsible AI capacity-building and policy development in Africa, as well as his leadership in coordinating Ghana’s National AI Strategy consultations and implementation partnerships.
As Co-Founder of the Responsible AI Network Africa (RAIN-Africa) and Principal Investigator of the Responsible AI Lab (RAIL), Prof. Kponyo continues to position KNUST and Ghana as emerging leaders in ethical and inclusive artificial intelligence.
His contribution to the Advisory Board aligns with KNUST’s growing reputation as a hub for research, innovation, and digital transformation in higher education across Africa.
Members of the Advisory Board are expected to contribute to policy direction, peer-review standards, and the integration of AI tools in scholarly publishing.
They will also support global collaboration efforts and guide responsible innovation in research communication.
